My Mission

Our anxiety about the state of the world is a normal response to the abnormal stressors facing so many of us. The collective concerns that we all face coupled with our own individual worries can make life feel overwhelming. I have worked as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner since 2007 and my private practice is focused on looking within. Working with individuals to focus and heal the one person we can control: ourselves. I am a strong proponent of meditation and medication. My approach is to align my work according to YOUR values.

My Philosophy

As a psychiatric ARNP, I work with a diverse patient population. I provide insight and education regarding medication management and my experience as an AASECT certified sex therapist to encourage individuals to work through emotional barriers. I also offer TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) in the West Seattle area for treatment resistant depression and other mental health disorders.

I do not push the idea of medications on patients but certainly encourage and prescribe medication when I perceive it may be helpful. I emphasize the need for effective coping strategies and offer education regarding cognitive distortions, using dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) skills, principles of acceptance, and commitment therapy (ACT), among other therapeutic approaches.

For Out of Control Sexual Behavior in Men (Often Referred to As Sex Addiction)

  • I provide an initial screening appointment that is a step-by-step process to assess if the client is a candidate for individual and/or group therapy. Treatment is aimed at exploring attachment styles, emotional regulation skills, exploring the impact of adverse childhood events, and how it affects current behaviors. We will explore sexual and emotional desires in detail looking at the presence of erotic conflicts and competing motivations. I will encourage you to discuss your sexual desires more openly achieving greater insight and meaning to current behaviors and how you may be able to integrate sexual desires into your intimate, romantic world instead of hiding in a world of isolation and shame. You will work on ways to improve communication, set boundaries, and approach sex from a more positive, self-aware place. Great importance is then placed on having the client then develop his own sexual health plan that is realistic and aligned with the six principles of sexual health that include: consensual, non-exploitative, protection of unwanted pregnancy or STI’s, honesty, shared values, and mutual pleasure.
