TRAVIS DAMICO MN, ARNP

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist

Medication Management, Behavioral Therapy, and Sex Therapy

Enhance Your Mental Health with Counseling Services

My Mission

To enhance the ability to cope, address issues regarding sexuality when presented, and offer medication management when indicated for patients facing life stressors in a supportive setting.

My Philosophy

As a psychiatric ARNP, I work with a diverse patient population. I provide insight and education regarding medication management and my experience as an AASECT certified sex therapist to encourage individuals to work through emotional barriers.

I do not push the idea of medications on patients but certainly encourage and prescribe medication when I perceive it may be helpful. I emphasize the need for effective coping strategies and offer education regarding cognitive distortions, using dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) skills, principles of acceptance, and commitment therapy (ACT), among other therapeutic approaches.

For Out of Control Sexual Behavior in Men (Often Referred to As Sex Addiction)

  • I provide an initial screening appointment that is a step-by-step process to assess if the client is a candidate for individual and/or group therapy. Treatment is aimed at exploring attachment styles, emotional regulation skills, exploring the impact of adverse childhood events, and how it affects current behaviors. We will explore sexual and emotional desires in detail looking at the presence of erotic conflicts and competing motivations. I will encourage you to discuss your sexual desires more openly achieving greater insight and meaning to current behaviors and how you may be able to integrate sexual desires into your intimate, romantic world instead of hiding in a world of isolation and shame. You will work on ways to improve communication, set boundaries, and approach sex from a more positive, self-aware place. Great importance is then placed on having the client then develop his own sexual health plan that is realistic and aligned with the six principles of sexual health that include: consensual, non-exploitative, protection of unwanted pregnancy or STI’s, honesty, shared values, and mutual pleasure.
